The Women’s Guild Tuesday, May 6th meeting at 6:30 p.m. will be our Green Thumb Gardener program. Our speaker for the evening is Jeff Haddock, owner and operator of Gardenside Nurseries. He will be bringing newly tested 2008 plants for our area, assorted flowers for purchasing at a discount price, and a wealth of knowledge for all our questions on gardening. Bring a friend!!

More workers are needed for the Teddy Bear Factory on Wednesday, May 7th. All the money we earn is going to the Mortgage Debt Reduction. We are hoping for 16 workers; that will bring in about $960! The shift is from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with time out for lunch. All you need to do is have fun dressing bears in different outfits!! Easy money!! If you are interested, or have questions, call Marilyn Van Houten.

May 10th is Women Build Day. It will be women only at the Build. It is being held off the Milton site, indoors, so…rain or shine, it is a go. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. They will be working on window and wall framing. All are invited to attend. If you wish to volunteer, please go to www.vermonthabitat.org and click on Volunteer. This will bring you to the sign-up page, simply click on “sign-up,” directions are also available at this page.

Hannaford Helps Schools is again offering us the opportunity to raise money for our Preschool. If you shop at Hannaford and purchase 4 participating products, you will receive, at the register, 3 school dollars for those products. Then, deposit these school dollars in the Preschool or leave them on Kathy’s desk in the church office. We have until December 1st to collect the school dollars. Shelf tags throughout the store will help you find the products. It’s easy to do and our Preschool will reap the benefit! Thanks for your help.

Speaking for several minutes after both services today is Ben Courtemanche, from the Navigators Staff at UVM. He will be telling us about this Christian organization and how we can partner with it as our Mission of the Month.

Confirmation classes will begin on Thursday, September 13th at 6:30 p.m. If your child is entering the 7th grade, please contact the church office.

Habitat for Humanity Project 2008!

Greetings to everyone from the Thrivent Builds Team. We are very excited about this year’s build and would like to forward to all of you some of the information we have on the 2008 project so far. Green Mountain Habitat For Humanity (GMHFH) plans to purchase land in Milton and build three houses this year.

Thrivent, as in the past years, is only responsible for a percentage of time it takes to build one house, but volunteers will be working on all three houses. The total number of man hours Thrivent requires has yet to be determined. The house design is similar to that of the houses built on Venus Avenue in Burlington in 2006. The houses will have three bedrooms, a full basement, one bath, with option for ½ bath or additional storage, a front porch and a driveway on the side.

We will be sending out more updates in the future but wanted to get people thinking about volunteering again. Everyone that volunteered last year had a good time and left the build with a real feeling of giving back to the community. We hope to see all the old faces and many new faces at the Thrivent build this year!
