Sunday School during the school year : 9:45 a.m

Our caring teachers provide Christ-centered crafts and instruction based upon God's Word and approved by our Board of Education, for children of ages 3 through 12 years.

Junior Worship

We provide a worship service for those children ages 5 - 12 years of age. The children learn about the worship service, and hear about God's love and forgiveness for them. They also get to work on Christ-centered craft projects. A light snack is provided.

Junior Worship will be closed after the first Sunday in May; it will resume in September

Quiet Bags

Quiet bags are available for children to use during the worship service. They are divided into two age groups: 1 to 2 year olds and 3 years and up.

Children’s Website Provides aSafe Place

For Children to Play Online

Lutheran Hour Ministries has unveiled a new interactive children’s Website, JCPlayZone.com. The website engages children through games, crafts, recipes, and other activities. The site also offers electronic greeting cards for children to send to friends and family and seasonal crafts and recipes that children can work on with older siblings or parents.

Games, activities, and coloring pages will change often to encourage children to return and check out what’s new. Created especially for children ages two through six, JCPlayZone will rapidly become one of your child’s favorites!

A companion Website called JCParentZone offers parents access to relevant parenting information from a Christian perspective. The articles and spiritual questions are updated regularly.

From Acorns to Oak Trees

“Pay attention!” “Didn’t’ you hear me calling you?” “How many times do I have to ask you to (fill in the blank)?” Sound familiar? Do you sometimes think that your kids must have come without the memory chip? When Rachel was born, Dennis and I talked with many parents of all ages about rules and boundaries for children. Some of the best advice we received was to “keep the rules simple,” “be consistent about enforcing the consequences of disobedience” and “the most important rule should always be to listen to Mom and Dad when they speak to you.” By enforcing the rule to “listen” for the sound of our voices, we were better able to ensure that we could gain their attention and avoid dangerous situations, as well as listening to our instructions. But, being consistent about enforcing rules takes hard work and patience.

Sadly, many parents I see today do not seem to have the patience to enforce rules and, even worse, disobedience often seems to have no consequences. They simply want their children to be quiet, stay out of their hair, and not get into trouble. Without leadership and training there is not much chance this will happen. Good parents, on the other hand, take the time to teach their children good manners, cooperation, and respect for others. They consistently teach their children to “listen to them” as they teach them lifetime skills and lessons. These young people will probably have an easier time succeeding in the world and leading a productive life. What of the godly parent, however? Is God content with good citizens, hard workers, and successful lifestyles? No, our God calls us to “be holy as I am holy.” What a high standard! Our job is not just to teach our children to listen to us, but to teach them to listen to God! Learning this lesson will keep them safe long after they leave our care, and will allow them to make wise spiritual decisions and become fruitful members of the Kingdom of God.

Do Sunday school papers just go onto the refrigerator or do we talk with our children about what they learned? Do we ask them about the sermon topic? Do they see us reading our Bibles and talking about how God’s Word applies to life? Do we give them an age appropriate Bible as soon as they can read and expect them to read it? Do we live by godly standards and teach and enforce them? May God bless our efforts to His glory.
